As per Extra’s January 1, 2026, interview, Paris Hilton said the press climate in the 2000s was “so cruel.” She said the way young women were treated was “extremely painful and traumatic.” Hilton added that the abuse became “entertainment for people back then.” She also said being “publicly humiliated all the time” could get to anyone.

The 44-year-old also described how that era changed her confidence. She said, “I’m a human being with feelings.” Hilton added that people judged her while “no one had known what I had actually been through.” Therefore, Britney Spears’ media scrutiny still feels personal to her. Meanwhile, she framed the new film as a third chapter after her memoir, “And This Is Paris.”

When interviewer Terri Seymour asked about Britney Spears, the socialite said she was with her in Mexico for her birthday. She added it was just “two days ago.” The “It Girl” creator said they talked about “what we survived,” because “they were brutal like every day.” Hilton added that it was “constantly being followed and stalked,” and that “having people invent stories.”

For Hilton, Spears’ media scrutiny was nonstop, and she said “everybody was so unkind.” Still, she said it helps to have someone who gets it. She said, “It helps to be able to talk with someone who can relate.” The heiress added, “It is also healing for both of us.”
