Cameron Diaz flashed a very Cameron Diaz smile on the set of the movie “Bad Day” in New Jersey.
Diaz, who stars in the Netflix action comedy, was joined by a previously unannounced cast member — “Parks and Recreation” and “Sonic the Hedgehog” star Ben Schwartz.
Schwartz wore a suit and Diaz was in a blue plaid shirt as the actors filmed scenes on Bell Street in Bloomfield Wednesday.
Schwartz sat in a silver Mustang convertible as Diaz leaned over the car to talk to him for the scenes.
Diaz, who also filmed Monday in Plainfield, leads the cast of the movie from director by Jake Szymanski and writer Laura Solon (“Office Christmas Party”).

Szymanski (“Jury Duty,” “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates”) was on set with Diaz and Schwartz Wednesday.
In Plainfield two days earlier, Diaz wore a red employee vest for a fictional “Rooms & More” store with a name tag that said “Joy.”
“Bad Day” follows Diaz’s single mother character, who is apparently having a terrible day while trying to keep a promise to her daughter.

The lead movie role is part of Diaz’s continuing comeback as an actor after a decade-long break from the job.
The “There’s Something About Mary,” “Being John Malkovich,” “Gangs of New York” and “Charlie’s Angels” star first returned to acting in the Netflix film “Back in Action” with her “Annie” co-star Jamie Foxx. That movie was released in January.

Schwartz is known for playing the lovably annoying and over-the-top Jean-Ralphio Saperstein in the NBC series “Parks and Recreation.”
The actor-comedian went on to voice Sonic in the “Sonic the Hedgehog” movies.
Schwartz will also be at NJPAC in Newark Nov. 22 for his “Ben Schwartz & Friends” improv comedy tour.
The full “Bad Day” cast includes Oscar and Emmy nominee Danielle Brooks (“The Color Purple,” “Orange is the New Black”), Emmy nominee Ed O’Neill (“Modern Family,” “Married… with Children”), Rhenzy Feliz (“The Penguin”), John Higgins from Please Don’t Destroy on “Saturday Night Live,” Emma Pearson (“Gingerbread Kids”) and Jessica Belkin (“The Hunting Wives”).

Other Jersey filming locations for the movie include, but are not limited to, Perth Amboy and Passaic.
