Jillian Dempsey surprised her husband with pastries and coffee for his 60th birthday while he was filming Memory of a Killer in Toronto
She also shared that she had a T-shirt made with his face on it that read, “I’m not 60, I’m 18 with 42 years experience”
Jillian, who has been married to Patrick for 26 years, also shared a video of the cast and crew of Memory of a Killer singing “Happy Birthday” to the star on the set
Jillian Dempsey is an expert when it comes to planning the perfect surprise for her husband Patrick Dempsey.
The celebrity makeup artist, 59, revealed on Instagram that she flew up to Toronto, where Patrick was filming his latest project, Fox’s Memory of a Killer, and surprised him with several spontaneous gifts for his 60th birthday — including a shirt with his face on it that noted the big milestone.
Her Instagram video kicked off with a shot of her discussing the surprise to the camera, saying, “I’m gonna knock on the door for his birthday.” She could then be seen knocking loudly on his door before he finally opened it with a big smile on his face.
“Did you know I was coming?,” she asked him before giving him a smooch. He responded, “No, I didn’t. I was literally just texting you. Check.”
She then cut to show the Grey’s Anatomy alum tucking into a pastry in front of an open box full of different kinds of treats. He could also be seen smiling as he appeared to enjoy a cup of coffee in another shot.
She then shared a clip of the two bringing in bags filled with pastries courtesy of their daughter Talula Fyfe Dempsey, 23, from Delysees luxury desserts. Patrick could be seen opening the box and smiling proudly in his trailer. He and Jillian also share twin sons, Darby and Sullivan, 18.
The couple could then be seen being driven onto the set of his Fox show where one of his co-workers sported a T-shirt with Patrick’s face on it. Patrick could be seen pointing at the shirt happily, which featured the words, “I’m not 60” at the top, and “I’m 18 with 42 years experience” on the bottom.
When he returned to his trailer, he got another surprise in the form of a cake with white buttercream frosting and strawberries on top. The cake also featured a cake-topper that read, “F—, I’m 60!” The cake was wrapped in a clear box with a black ribbon tied on top of it.

Patrick made a funny face at the camera as his wife snapped a picture of him in front of his cake. Balloons and more of his 60th birthday-themed shirts could also be seen strewn around his trailer.
Jillian also shared general clips of Patrick getting ready in the hair and makeup room and a shot of his chair on set. In a video, she and the cast and crew sang “Happy Birthday” to the star as he held up a large cake that read, “Happy Birthday Patrick!”
“Thank you everybody!” he responded, adding that the set was the “best place in the world to be spending my 60th.”

Last year, Patrick and Jillian celebrated 26 years of marriage. The makeup artist marked the occasion by sharing a throwback photo on Instagram from the pair’s wedding, in which a friend could be seen touching up her makeup as they prepared to say, “I do.”
“26 years ago today. I can’t imagine life without you. Thank you so much for your love and support and understanding. Loving my weaknesses as much as my strength you’re an incredible mother and an incredible partner. love you ! happy anniversary!” she captioned the photo.
