Pedro Pascal, who has been locked in a feud with JF Rowling over the topic, is once again championing trans rights by backing Sabrina Carpenter following her MTV VMAs performance that tackled the issue.
The Fantastic Four star, who has been captivating audiences for years across multiple high-profile projects, has consistently been unafraid to voice his opinions on political matters, particularly civil and human rights causes.
Beyond advocating for schools that seek to shield immigrant children from ICE raids, he has been exceptionally outspoken regarding transgender rights.
The actor has found himself locked in a dispute with Harry Potter creator JK Rowling over his transgender advocacy, which has personal roots within his own family.
Pascal’s sister, Lux Pascal, revealed her identity as a transgender woman in 2021, and he has been openly supportive of her transition, with Lux herself commending her brother during an April 2025 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, reports the Irish Sta.
“What makes him so fabulous is that [Pedro] wears all of his humanity on his sleeve, and he doesn’t hide who he is,” she said. “That’s the main lesson I’ve gotten from him.”
He also generated buzz in April when he donned a T-shirt reading “PROTECT THE DOLLS” at a UK film premiere, following the nation’s Supreme Court ruling that legally defines a woman based exclusively on biological sex.
Now, he is once again showing his support for the community by celebrating Carpenter, who delivered a powerful statement during her performance at the annual awards ceremony in New York this past weekend.
Carpenter stepped onto the stage to perform her latest track, Tears, backed by renowned drag performers and dancers costumed as police officers.
Several of those who joined her on stage also carried signs bearing messages such as “DOLLS DOLLS DOLLS,” “In Trans We Trust,” and “Protect Trans Rights.”
Following the performance, Pascal turned to his Instagram Stories to commend Carpenter for delivering the message during her set.
Posting an image of Carpenter performing, he wrote “Again…[crown emoji],” apparently crowning Carpenter as royalty.
The acclaim for Carpenter followed his public condemnation of Rowling in April as a “heinous loser,” after she celebrated the UK Supreme Court’s ruling on social media.
During that incident, she posted a picture of herself enjoying a drink and cigar, writing “I love it when a plan comes together.”
Pascal subsequently responded to the criticism his remarks about Rowling generated from some quarters in a July/August Vanity Fair cover feature.
“The one thing that I would say I agonized over a little bit was just, ‘Am I helping? Am I f–king helping?’ It’s a situation that deserves the utmost elegance so that something can actually happen, and people will actually be protected. Listen, I want to protect the people I love. But it goes beyond that. Bullies make me f–king sick,” he expressed at the time.
