A Pennsylvania dad’s attempt to entertain party guests ended in injury.
Travis Lee Peachey, 51, of Narvon, accidentally set off a homemade pipe bomb he’d built and suffered shrapnel wounds on his face and head, according to Lancaster County Fox affiliate WPMT.
Pennsylvania state troopers started investigating the incident after Peachey showed up at a local hospital to have his injuries treated.
Investigators said Peachey told them he put together the homemade explosive because he was expecting guests and figured exploding the device in their presence would provide entertainment, according to Harrisburg CBS affiliate WHP-TV.
Peachey allegedly placed the homemade bomb on a woodpile in the backyard near a shed. After learning his guests were no longer coming over, he attempted to take the explosive back into his shed, instead dropping it and causing it to detonate.
Despite being injured in the blast, Peachey managed to run into his home and tell his wife he needed to go to the hospital, according to WGAL-TV. Peachey was treated for injuries to his face and eyes, and shrapnel was removed from his head so it could be placed into evidence.

A jail employee told celebrity.land that Peachey remains behind bars in lieu of a $500,000 bail.
