The Los Angeles Police Department is speaking out after Saturday Night Live writer Jimmy Fowlie shared an update on the disappearance of his sister, Christina Lynn Downer.
“Robbery-Homicide Division continues to investigate the disappearance of Christina Downer,” LAPD said in a statement to Us Weekly on Thursday, April 30. “Although the circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious, Ms. Downer has not been located, and her case has not been reclassified as a homicide. RHD will diligently investigate this case until a resolution can be reached.”
Earlier in the week, Fowlie returned to Instagram with an update on his sister’s disappearance.
In a lengthy statement, Downer’s brother claimed police have informed his family “that Christina is no longer alive, and the case has officially transitioned from a missing person to a homicide investigation.”
“Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable,” he wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, April 29. “I believe there is a chance that someone who knows something might find the courage to step forward. My sister can no longer advocate for herself, but I can and I hope you will too.”
Fowlie continued, “The best way you could support me in this statement is to share this post and to talk about her story. Thank you.”

In December 2025, Fowlie first asked for the public’s help in locating his missing sister. At the time, the LAPD also issued a press release confirming authorities are looking for Downer.

“Christina Lynn Downer was last contacted on December 10, 2025, via text message with a friend. Her last known location was in the Koreatown area of Los Angeles. She has not been seen or heard from since,” police shared. “Christina Downer is described as a 38-year-old female with black hair and brown eyes. She stands five feet one inch tall and weighs approximately 115 pounds.”
In recent weeks, Fowlie has received support from many of his Saturday Night Live colleagues, including Bowen Yang, Sarah Sherman and Chloe Fineman.
“Aw damn Jimmy I’m so so so sorry!!! May they be brought to justice swiftly!!! 💔💔💔,” Kenan Thompson commented on his coworker’s recent Instagram.
Vanderpump Rules alums Scheana Shay and Ariana Madix have also offered support and shared Downer’s missing persons poster with their followers.
“We are heartbroken and hoping Christina receives the justice she so deserves,” Madix, 40, commented via Instagram. “Sending you all the love we have ❤️.”
