The Princess of Wales’ feat in successfully completing the Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours was rightly lauded. I wrote about my own experience of the challenge in the aftermath, and successful completion requires varying degrees of endurance, determination and athleticism. Catherine showcased all three in spades but she also demonstrated something else: an incredibly close bond with her birth family. While it’s strong legs which get you up mountains, strong family units can still help and it must have have given the Princess a huge boost to be accompanied up and down her final peak, Snowdon, by her outdoor-pursuit loving younger brother, James.
The image of the pair hugging brings into sharp relief both the literal and figurative distance between Prince Harry and his own birth family. The Windsors really don’t have to look far, then, to see how fraternity brings many more benefits than fratricide, begging today’s question…
