Pollstar and TheWrap this week released their first live entertainment special report “Taking A Beat On Live Entertainment” (PDF below), which includes exclusive Pollstar’s touring data, a WrapPro Live Entertainment Survey and Comscore data showing film box office performance.
The report features six unique Pollstar data sets showing what aspects of live entertainment are growing, flat or declining since the pandemic and how that compares with movie box office in the same period. The survey, conducted in early September with Wrap readers, asks participants how they value, prioritize and spend their money on live entertainment. The report also includes information on the artists, tours and venues seeing the biggest gains in 2025.
This special report coincided with TheGrill, TheWrap’s annual conference bringing together over 300 industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and trailblazers for a day of panel discussions, workshops, roundtables and vigorous networking. This year’s agenda explored the latest insights across entertainment sectors including film, TV, music, sports, streaming, content creation, M&A deals, and AI (Tilly Norwood was often a topic of conversation).
Held at the DGA Theater Complex on Sept. 30 in Los Angeles, TheGrill saw the stage filled with top entertainment executives. This included: Azoff Company Chairman Irving Azoff in conversation with TheWrap founder and EIC Sharon Waxman, legendary film producer Jerry Bruckheimer interviewed by TheWrap’s Drew Taylor; the WME power-trio of Mark Shapiro, Richard Weitz and Christian Muirhead also in conversation with Waxman; and film mogul turned drone producer Jeffrey Katzenberg with The Box Sessions’ Laura Holson and Nova Sky Stories’ Kimbal Musk.
