Two months before the third annual Bellingham Exit, organizers have announced that the 2025 edition (kicking off Oct. 8–12) will be the festival’s last. The news was delivered via Instagram on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
“In short, the landscape for live events continues to change and festivals today face great cultural and financial challenges,” the Instagram post reads. “But we believe that Bellingham deserves a last dinner party to remember as we bring new, venue transforming art installations to life — bigger and more carb-rich than ever!”
Bellingham Exit Festival debuted with great success in 2023, drawing in 52 unique acts including nationally-recognized performers like The Pharcyde, Marc Maron, The HU and drag queen Monet X Change, as well as local performers. It sold 7,800 tickets and accrued $10,451 in net ordinary income — an impressive feat for a first-year festival.
The subsequent edition brought in more than 60 unique acts including Reggie Watts, Joseph and Laura Ramoso. In 2025, organizers will expand the concept from one weekend to a multi-week affair, with a kickoff weekend from Oct. 8–12 and more events Oct. 13–31. Headliners this year include Dan Deacon, Lucinda Williams and Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, though the full lineup is yet to be announced.
The festival’s Aug. 13 Instagram post thanked the City of Bellingham, partner venues, Rainier Beer and “the 13,000 fans who have engaged in Bellingham Exit festivities over the last few years.”
“We are always planning, cooking, and looking out for new opportunities,” the post read, “and will continue to bring concerts and comedy events to Bellingham (but 2025 will be our last Exit Festival).” Info: bellinghamexit.com.
