Fans of Todd Snider know him as much for his storytelling as for his music, and this week, the community he’s built rallied around him in a time of crisis. The beloved Americana singer-songwriter was violently attacked outside his Salt Lake City hotel, forcing him to cancel his 2025 tour.
The 59-year-old musician had kicked off his tour in support of his latest album, High And Lonesome And Then Some, on Thursday in Englewood, Colorado. However, the run of shows was suddenly cut short just two days later in Salt Lake City, where Snider was scheduled for the tour’s second stop.
In a statement posted to his social media, Snider’s record company described the incident as a “violent assault” and confirmed he would be unable to perform.
“We are heartbroken to announce the cancellation of the High, Lonesome and Then Some 2025 Tour dates. Ahead of Todd Snider’s show in Salt Lake City, Todd sustained severe injuries as the victim of a violent assault outside of his hotel,” Aimless Inc. wrote.
“Todd will be unable to perform for an undetermined amount of time. We deeply apologize for the cancellation and any inconvenience it causes. We appreciate your understanding as Todd receives needed medical treatment. We hope to have more information on new dates soon.”
Fans quickly expressed their support for the singer, sharing messages like, “Devastating news. Get well soon, Todd! You mean so much to so many.” Another added, “So sad to hear this news. So much love for you Todd!”
A third fan wrote, “Man. Big love to you Todd. That is messed up. Ya know you got the world on your side. Sorry for whatever darkness you encountered.”
Another listener sent prayers, saying, “This is awful. Todd the pacifist. This is so messed up. I’m so sorry to hear this. Praying for Todd.”
Snider was scheduled to perform in Phoenix on Monday, November 3. The remainder of the now-cancelled tour had been planned to run through mid-November, with shows across the West Coast and Mountain region.
At this time, no additional information has been shared about the assault, and the severity of Snider’s injuries has not been disclosed.
