Primal Fear bassist / co-founder and Sinner frontman, Mat Sinner, has checked in with a new update:
“Six songs for the new Sinner album are mixed by the ‘magic’ Jacob Hansen. Very happy with the vibe, the power and final result. The first single/video, ‘Wait’, will be released on May 14. Next week, I will thank all the incredible singers who joined me on my journey, but today it’s time to thank the guys who played on the album especially Alex Scholpp and Moritz Müller, plus more contributions by Jim Müller, Lisa Müller, Mathias ‘Don’ Dieth and Magnus Karlsson.
In addition, we’ve written already nine new songs for a new Primal Fear album, plus preparing for the forthcoming tour in Europe (March) and South America (April). And of course, watch out for the release of new music on February 20 – the new single and video of ‘One’. Have a great start into the new week.”
The new Sinner album will feature guest appearances from Erik Martensson (Eclipse), Ricky Warwick (Black Star Riders, The Almighty), Michael Sadler (Saga), Ronnie Romero, Michael Bormann (ex-Bonfire), Sascha Krebs (Rock Meets Classic), and Björn “Speed” Strid (Soilwork / The Night Flight Orchestra).
Primal Fear’s tour schedule is available here.

The show also marked bassist / co-founder Mat Sinner’s return to the stage after five years of dealing with health issues. Fan-filmed video of the show can be viewed below.
Setlist:
“Final Embrace”
“Nuclear Fire”
“Angel In Black”
“The Hunter” (live debut)
“King Of Madness”
“Hounds Of Justice”
“The End Is Near”
“Fighting The Darkness”
“Chainbreaker”
“Metal Is Forever”
“Running In The Dust”
Mat Sinner issued the following update prior to the show:
“Five years ago, I played my last show with Alice Cooper in Berlin (Rock Meets Classic). Shortly after this show I was declared dead, but doctors brought me back to life. As I was lying paralyzed in my bed, one of my 3 targets was that one day I want to be back rocking on a stage again. Now, 5 years later I’m 75% recovered, 5 years sober, and I will play a show with my beloved Primal Fear again on Friday evening, supported by some of the best guys I can imagine. Don‘t expect me jumping around like a young guy, but for sure I will give 200%. And can you imagine my feelings when we will play our classic songs again? Keep your fingers crossed and have a great new week.”
Sinner suffered an extreme adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccination in 2021 and received treatment for eight months at various hospitals. This forced the cancellation of shows planned for 2021 and 2022, and when Primal Fear did surface it was with Alex Jansen as Sinner’s temporary replacement.
