He is a royal prince and the son of one of the richest men in the world, whose every wish can be granted.
But now Prince Mateen of Brunei is getting one thing money can’t buy after announcing he and wife, Anisha, whom he married in a lavish 10-day wedding ceremony in 2024, are expecting their first child.
The dashing prince, whose full name is Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei, took to his Instagram account overnight to announce the news, sharing a slightly blurry black and white image of he and his wife, who were both dressed in white.
“And then there were three,” he wrote in the post he shared with three million followers.
In the image, he is leaning back with one hand in his pocket while the other is reaching out to gently hold his wife’s hand. She is gently cradling her baby bump with the other.
The happy news comes almost two years after the two wed in a lavish 10-day wedding ceremony.
Prince Mateen, 34, and Anisha, 30, are thought to have dated since around 2018.
She is the granddaughter of the Sultan of Brunei’s special adviser, but they most likely met through her brother, who is friends with the prince.

They largely kept out of the spotlight during their courtship but did attend the wedding of Prince Mateen’s sister, Princess Azemah, a year before their own nuptials.
Their own wedding celebrations began on January 7, 2024, with a 17-gun salute and included their actual wedding ceremony on January 11.
A number of world leaders and royals attended the ceremony, which was held at the family palace, Istana Nurul Iman.
Prince Mateen is the tenth of 12 children of the Sultan of Brunei, who has ruled the tiny nation located on the island of Borneo since 1967.

He is currently the world’s longest serving monarch and has a personal wealth of about $50 billion, which was largely derived from the country’s oil and gas reserves.
As fifth in line to the throne, he is unlikely to take the reins of the country but often accompanies his father on royal duties, including the coronation of King Charles III in 2023.
Prince Mateen is a pilot with the Royal Brunei Air Force, having attended the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where princes William and Harry received their training.
Like the British royals, he is a keen polo player, with his wife often watching him play.
When he is not at work or on the polo field, he and his wife jet around the world. In July, they flew to London for Wimbledon.
