Prince Louis is usually known as the cheeky royal character, but the Prince and Princess of Wales’ eldest son, Prince George, has also been known to take the reins when he gave a fake name to a bemused dog walker.
Back in 2019, when the prince would have been five years old, the young royal reportedly used his cousin-to-be’s name months before he was born, in a charming coincidence. The now-12-year-old had been on a walk with his grandmother, Carole Middleton, and younger sister, Princess Charlotte, when they came across a woman walking her dog.
George then reportedly walked over to pet the woman’s dog, and when she asked George for his name, just to be polite, the prince apparently smiled and said it was Archie.
Months later in May, his cousin Archie was born into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s family, in what may have been a puzzling fluke.
Speaking to The Sun, the woman, who asked not to be named, said: “I was asked by a police minder not to take a photo of the children, which I didn’t, but George started stroking my dog.
“Just to be friendly I engaged in a bit of small talk and I asked George what his name was, even though obviously I knew it.
“To my astonishment he said ‘I’m called Archie’ with a big smile on his face. I don’t know why he calls himself Archie but kids often play with their names and I think it’s lovely.”
The woman was later surprised after learning that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle named their son Archie, who is now six years old.
Interestingly enough, both George’s father and his uncle also have used different names over the years. Prince Harry‘s real name is Henry Charles Albert David, while Prince William used a surname during his days at university to protect his identity – though it was relatively easy to decode.
Prior to graduating with a Scottish Master of Arts degree in geography from St Andrew’s University in 2005, William went under the name ‘William Wales’.
