Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quietly met two minor members of the Jordanian Royal Family, officially the House of Hashim, on Thursday as they wrapped up their foreign visit.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex concluded a two-day humanitarian mission to Jordan, undertaking engagements alongside World Health Organisation officials to spotlight support for refugees and those impacted by regional conflicts.
Prince Harry and Meghan were received by Princess Basma bint Talal, 74, King Abdullah II’s paternal aunt, at the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development on Thursday.
Princess Basma’s daughter, Farah Daghistani, 53, also attended the meeting.

The Sussexes visited the King Hussein Cancer Centre during their final day in Jordan, where Princess Ghida Talal, 62, hosted them.
Princess Ghida serves as Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees at the cancer foundation.
She is married to Prince Talal bin Muhammad, 60, a first cousin of King Abdullah II.
During their time at the medical facility, Harry and Meghan met with patients and their relatives, expressing their sympathies to those affected.

The engagement highlighted how ongoing regional conflicts have placed significant strain on healthcare systems, with the couple witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by those seeking treatment.
The Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (Johud) was established through royal decree in 1977, originally operating as the Queen Alia Fund for Social Welfare.
Princess Basma has led the organisation since its founding, guiding its transformation into a nonprofit entity in 1985 and its consolidation with other bodies following King Hussein’s death in 2000.
Johud now operates as a leading force in sustainable human development at national and international levels, delivering community-based solutions for vulnerable populations.

The California-based couple travelled to the Middle Eastern nation at the invitation of WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to observe humanitarian operations assisting Syrian and Palestinian refugees who have sought sanctuary in Jordan.
Dr Ghebreyesus met separately with King Abdullah II, 64, expressing gratitude for Jordan’s provision of health services to more than three million refugees, predominantly from Gaza and Syria.
The Duke of Sussex issued a statement praising Jordan as “a country that is leading by example in compassion, resilience and innovation.”

Harry emphasised the importance of psychological wellbeing for those affected by crisis, stating: “Mental health is fundamental to recovery, dignity and long-term peace, and we are proud to stand with WHO and partners around the world to make it a global priority.”
He noted that through Archewell Philanthropies, he and Meghan had witnessed the WHO’s work supporting mental health provision and delivering emergency care.
The couple remain committed to raising awareness, combating stigma and broadening access to mental health services for conflict-affected populations.
