Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been slammed as a “pair of grifters” after Meghan shared a photograph at the Althorp Estate. Fans have reacted with anger to the photo, which shows Prince Harry and Prince Archie carrying flowers while Princess Lilibet walks behind them.
The background of the picture being at the Althorp Estate has led many to believe that it was taken before the family visited Princess Diana’s resting place nearby. Angry Brits have taken to social media to criticise the pair over the photo.
An X user wrote: “So Meghan Markle really posted photos of them on the way to Princess Diana’s grave? Wow. How disrespectful, exploitative and gross. What should really be a very private and personal family moment she posts on her public influencer platform for the world to see.”
Another wrote: “Shameful to dine out on visiting her grave. They are under no obligation to put this out there. Especially for their PR. Papping themselves at Diana’s grave is weird, crazy, and extremely poor taste.”
One wrote under a video posted by TalkTV of a chat with royal expert Angela Levin: “There is something seriously wrong with these two. The more content they put out the more despised they become.”
Another said: “They never wanted a private life. They wanted a private life. They wanted a life in the spotlight without rules or regulations.”
One simply said: “They are a vile pair of grifters.”
Harry was in the UK for almost a week earlier this month while Meghan and the children flew into the UK for a few days, reportedly due to security concerns.
Meghan, Archie and Lilibet were not seen in public and made no appearances during the visit.
However the family did meet King Charles during a visit at Highgrove, marking the first time Archie and Lilibet had seen Charles since the late Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee celebrations in 2022.
The meeting has been interpreted as a thawing of relations between the family and some have suggested that it may signal that the Sussexes could be interested in royal roles.
Daily Mail royal editor Rebecca English said: “I think the Palace do need to be alive to the fact there is a lot of concern that meeting will be used as a way to inveigle themselves back in to this half in and half out role – not maybe in the short term, but in the long term – and I think that is something people in the UK and around the world are deeply concerned about.”
