Some of the weirdest rumors about Prince Harry are always the ones that have to do with money. Harry is independently wealthy, but there are always rumors that part of his reasoning for reconciling with the British royal family is that he needs money. And that’s exactly what’s being reported now.
According to OK!, could ask King Charles for help maintaining his lifestyle. Neither Harry nor Meghan gets any money from the British royal family since they stepped back from working as senior royals in 2020. And reportedly, they spend around $6 million annually on staff and also have to think about the maintenance costs for their Montecito home.

“Harry has become increasingly candid in the few conversations he is having on the phone with Charles and is no longer trying to put a brave face on the challenges he and Meghan are dealing with behind the scenes,” a source said. “He has been honest about the financial strain that comes with maintaining their charitable projects, funding a large security operation, supporting their business ventures and sustaining the lifestyle they have built in California.”
“The reality is that the costs are enormous and there is a growing feeling on Harry’s side that the pressure has become relentless. He doesn’t believe he can continue carrying that burden alone forever and wants his father to understand just how difficult things have become.”
However, the couple’s shared net worth is estimated to be around $60 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. So, it’s not like they’re hurting for money. And not all of this money comes from deals the couple has signed with companies like Netflix and Spotify, either.
In September 2024, when Harry turned 40, he inherited roughly $10.3million from a trust fund established by his great-grandmother, the late Queen Mother. He had previously received around $12.8million from his late mother, Princess Diana.
Earlier this year RadarOnline.com even reported that the real reason William was upset at Harry is that, despite not being a working royal, he’s still benefiting from being part of the royal family. The heir to the throne reportedly wanted Harry to face “financial consequences” for giving up royal life. But William cannot control any deals the two sign, or any business endeavors they undertake. “William is livid that Harry continues to profit from the royal family, both now and in the future, despite having walked away and publicly criticized them,” an insider said then. “He believes that loyalty and duty must carry weight, otherwise the entire system begins to crumble.” Of course, considering Harry is also set to receive an inheritance from his father, this seems like the kind of thing Prince William will probably not win on.
