A royal insider has revealed that Prince Harry is said to have regretted some of his actions since stepping away from the Royal family and is now looking to ‘reset’ his relationships with both the public and his estranged family.
The Duke of Sussex recently returned to the UK for a quick four-day visit, during which he attended the WellChild Awards on Monday and participated in several other charity events.
In the midst of his busy schedule on Wednesday, Harry managed to carve out time for a private 55-minute tea with his estranged father, King Charles, at Clarence House in London.
This meeting, their first in 19 months, is believed to have been successful. A Royal insider told the Daily Mail that Harry’s conversation with his father is part of his efforts to pave the way towards reconciliation and to apologize to the Royal family for his actions over the past five years.
An insider told the publication, “It’s become clear that Harry now regrets some of his actions. He wants to reset his relationship with his family and with the people of the UK.”
Although the encounter between Harry and Charles marked a promising development, a broader Royal reconciliation is unlikely to occur immediately.
Prince Harry, who is presently visiting Ukraine, has repeatedly expressed that he “would love a reconciliation” with the Royal family, revealing to the BBC in May: “There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious.”
During another portion of the interview, Harry recognized that certain family members might struggle to forgive him following his numerous allegations against the Royal household, yet emphasized his desire to repair the bond with his father, particularly given the King’s cancer diagnosis.
