Prince Harry felt “buoyed, very happy and really energized,” following his meeting with King Charles, sources have revealed. The Duke of Sussex saw his father last week during a five-day visit to the UK to commemorate the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham.
It marked the first occasion in four years that the King had seen his American grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, attended alongside the Queen.
According to The Times, associates of the duke indicated that on Saturday morning, Harry was “buoyed, very happy and really energized”. However, they noted that his family’s return to Britain was “not how he wanted it”.
The Sussexes’ homecoming followed turbulent exchanges over statements and revised arrangements amid concerns about the family’s security in the UK.
Harry had initially planned to travel to London with his family; however, these arrangements were canceled at the last moment.
Meghan was also anticipated to accompany her husband at Birmingham events, but she withdrew at the last minute.
This follows reports that certain Invictus Games organizers “welcomed” the eleventh-hour adjustment and suggested it helped maintain focus on what truly matters, the veterans.
A source revealed to journalist Rob Shuter on his Substack, “There was a real sense of relief backstage. When Harry comes alone, the focus stays exactly where he wants it-on the veterans, not on the media frenzy that can surround a royal couple. Everyone could relax and let the event shine.”
Another insider described the Duke as “low-maintenance” and commended him for his cooperative nature.
They stated, “He’s incredibly low-maintenance. He’ll happily change plans, stay longer with athletes, and go wherever he’s needed. The whole atmosphere feels lighter when it’s just Harry.”
However, they suggested the dynamic shifts when his wife attends.
They explained, “Her visits usually involve extra security meetings, tighter schedules, and constant last-minute adjustments. With Harry on his own, everything is refreshingly straightforward. The team can focus on delivering a great event instead of managing endless logistics and drama.”
