A spokesman for the Duke of Sussex said he had accepted an invitation to stay at the palace during his trip.
He is attending an event marking one year until the Invictus Games in Birmingham.
Buckingham Palace has now denied these claims.
Harry will not be accompanied by the Duchess of Sussex or their children during this trip to London.
He had originally hoped to travel with Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet.
His children last saw their grandfather, King Charles III, during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee celebrations in 2022.
Earlier this year, King Charles had reportedly offered the family accommodation at a royal residence.
However, the Duke’s request for taxpayer-funded police protection was denied.
Government sources have made clear that the King is not involved in decisions relating to his son’s security.
Harry has been engaged in an ongoing dispute over his security arrangements since 2020 when he stepped back from his role as a working member of the Royal Family.
His security was downgraded, and he has since lost a legal challenge against the decision.
In a BBC interview following the ruling, Harry said: “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point and the things that they’re going to miss is, well, everything you know.”
The lack of updated security assessments by the Risk Management Board, which advises the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC), has contributed to the uncertainty.

A scheduled meeting in March was postponed, leaving no current assessment of potential threats to inform security arrangements for the Duke and his family.
This factor is believed to have influenced the decision not to bring Meghan and the children to the UK.
The Duchess of Sussex, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will not join the Duke of Sussex when he visits London next week, according to the Press Association.
No decision has been announced regarding whether they might join him for any other parts of his UK engagements outside London.
Prince Harry had initially planned to be joined by his family during the five-day trip to mark the countdown to the Invictus Games.
There had been ongoing confusion about their planned accommodations during the stay.
There is also uncertainty around whether the family might stay at another royal residence outside London or meet with the King during their visit.
Meghan was previously reported to be scheduled to join Prince Harry for a visit to the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London and an Invictus Games-related event at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, though these plans have not been confirmed.
The last time the King saw his youngest grandchildren in person was four years ago during Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee.
News of Prince Harry’s potential stay at Buckingham Palace comes just days after the Royal Family revealed that £370 million has been spent on refurbishing the palace.
It was also disclosed that King Charles has no plans to live in the palace, choosing instead to remain at Clarence House.
One reason given was to maximise public access to Buckingham Palace.
If the King were to live there, security concerns would limit visitor numbers and the sections of the palace open to the public.
During court proceedings last year, Harry’s legal team argued that he faces “considerable security risks” because of his royal status and public profile.
They said he has faced “well-documented threats from extremist groups and individuals.”
Despite his position, the government has maintained that security decisions regarding the royal family are made independently and based on risk assessments by security experts, not by members of the Royal Family themselves.
When the Duke lost his most recent court appeal on security, he told the BBC that he hoped for a renewed relationship with his family.
He said at the time that the King was not speaking with him because of the ongoing legal dispute over security.
It remains unclear whether Prince Harry will have any opportunity to meet privately with family members during this latest visit.
Details of his full itinerary and any meetings with the King have not been confirmed.
