Prince Harry‘s words about his school, Eton, in his memoir have been resurfacing on social media. The Duke of Sussex’s son, Prince George, will be enrolling in the college, as per the Kensington Palace announcement. The 12-year-old will join the institution in September of this year. Amid this news, many are noticing the errors in Harry’s statements about Eton in his memoir, Spare.
New palace announcement has reportedly revived an uncomfortable chapter for Prince Harry
As per Express, Prince Harry’s words on Eton College in his memoir are in the limelight again after his son was confirmed to join the school. Some of the statements in the 2023 memoir reportedly have errors. The Duke of Sussex mentioned that the school was founded by King Henry VI in 1440, and he referred to him as “my great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather.” This information is wrong, as Henry VI had only one son who passed away without an heir during the Battle of Tewkesbury.
Moreover, Harry’s actual six-times great-grandfather is King George III. Further, the royal made a mistake regarding his whereabouts during Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother’s death in 2002. He wrote that he received a call about his great-grandmother’s demise when he was studying at Eton. “At Eton, while studying, I took the call. I wish I could remember whose voice was at the other end; a courtier’s, I believe. I recall that it was just before Easter, the weather bright and warm, light slanting through my window, filled with vivid colours” Harry wrote.
However, the prince wasn’t at Eton when the call took place. He was on a trip to Switzerland with his father and brother. The vacation was cut short due to the Queen Mother’s death. The resurfaced photos on the date end up telling a different story. In pictures, Harry is seen on a skiing trip on the weekend when his great-grandmother passed away. While the report is going viral, the royals are yet to address the matter.
