Prince William and Kate Middleton Win Lawsuit Involving Their Three Children

Prince William and Princess Kate have won a legal case involving their three children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.

The couple filed the suit against the publisher of French magazine Paris Match, after it published paparazzi pictures of the entire family skiing in the Alps during their vacation this past April. The magazine also shared the images on social media.

Today, a French court found that Paris Match indeed infringed on William and Kate’s family’s privacy. A statement shared by a spokesperson for the royals following the legal win said that the Prince and Princess of Wales considered the article to be “grossly intrusive.”

The spokesperson also warned that Kate and William will not hesitate to pursue legal action again in their efforts to ensure that their children grow up “without undue scrutiny and interference.”

The royals’ statement continued: “The ruling affirms that, notwithstanding their public duties as members of the Royal Family, Their Royal Highnesses and their children are entitled to respect for their private lives and family time, without unlawful interference and intrusion.”

While Kate and William were initially seeking compensation from the publisher in the legal battle, they instead asked today for the publication of a judicial notice in the magazine, which has now been done.

This is not the first time William and Kate have pursued legal action against a magazine. In 2012, French magazine Closer published long-length photos of Kate sunbathing topless alongside William as they vacationed in Provence, France. French newspaper La Provence also shared photos of her in a bikini. A French court eventually ruled in favor of Kate.
