Prince William shared his “immense sadness” over the news of the death of army medic Corporal Lucy Wilde. The Prince of Wales took to social media on Sunday morning to share a poignant and heartfelt message.
It read: “It was with immense sadness that I learned of Cpl Lucy Wilde’s death. I remember our meeting during her time with the Welsh Guards, where her warmth and compassion were unmistakable. She served with courage and distinction as a medic and sought always to help others. I send my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.”
The Prince of Wales, who has been Colonel of the Welsh Guards regiment since 2022, signed the personal message as: “Colonel William”.

Cpl Lucy Wilde of the Royal Army Medical Service was a British Army medic who became a star on TikTok documenting her life in the military, who, according to her family, died suddenly. She had thousands of followers on social media, often documenting her exercises in the barracks gym or giving advice on health and fitness.
Well known within the army, she even met Prince William, who is Colonel of the Welsh Guards, where Cpl Wilde spent most of her career, The Daily Mail reported.
Cpl Wilde joined the army eight years ago and served in military operations in Kenya, the Falklands and South Georgia, and ran the Rome Marathon in 2024.
She had been attached to the Welsh Guards until Christmas when she moved on to her next posting with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Yorkshire Regiment.
The Ministry of Defence said the circumstances surrounding Wilde’s death were being investigated.
In a video posted onto TikTok last week, three days before she died, Cpl Wilde revealed how the last five months had been a “struggle” for her mentally and that she had been “in a rut”. The very last video she shared at the beginning of February was about how having a puppy exhausted her.
The young medic shared that she was going through a heartbreak following a breakup with her army colleague.
A video posted onto her TikTok in November last year was accompanied with text that read: “In ur 20s u will fall in love with an older man in the army. It’s very important you get away from him xxx.
“Because I didn’t, now paying the price,’ she finished by adding a broken heart emoji.”
