- Prince William and Kate Middleton’s new home, Forest Lodge, is next to a beloved local Christmas Tree Farm—and it’s causing drama.
- Neighbors are upset that they’re being re-routed while trying to buy trees.
- The royals have placed unmarked security at the shop.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s new neighbors are once again mad at them. There’s already been a lot of drama surrounding the couple moving into Forest Lodge, but the latest? Their presence in the Windsor area has forced neighbors to add an entire mile onto their drive to the local Christmas tree farm.
According to The Daily Mail, the Christmas Tree Shop is located below Forest Lodge, and they’ve had to use a temporary road to avoid patrons driving too close to William and Kate’s home—which has “brought chaos.” As one shopper put it, “I have already seen a few near misses where people have driven the wrong side of the cones.”
Meanwhile, there are royal security officers in the Christmas Tree Shop’s car park who are preventing people from going out of bounds. Another shopper explains, “A car was parked and running both days with what looked like two plain-clothes officers inside to prevent anyone going into the lodge’s grounds.”
This comes amid neighbors previously complaining about a “no-go zone” around William and Kate’s property, which was previously available for public walking. One anonymous neighbor told The Telegraph, “[The Royal family] encourage us to go out in the fresh air, and then they’re restricting us. It’s hypocritical. I’m totally in favor of protecting the Royal family against idiots who might try to shoot at them or take photographs. But the house is very far away, they’ve put a huge fence around it and there are lots of cameras in the fields. We’re not impressed, I’m afraid.”
Awkward times!
