Prince William is earning fresh praise from royal watchers after a subtle gesture in his latest public appearance went viral.
He and his wife, Kate Middleton, attended the wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling on Saturday, June 6, joining other members of the royal family to celebrate the couple’s union. Prince William was later singled out on social media and praised as a “gentleman” for his behavior toward his wife during the rainy celebration.
The happiness of the romantic event could have been dampened by the rain, which forced royals to shield their stylish outfits with umbrellas. However, the weather did little to dull the atmosphere, as guests carried on celebrating the couple’s union in good spirits.
William was singled out on the social media platform X. Royal watchers said he acted in a manner that struck many as attentive and respectful toward his wife of 15 years.

A social media fan began the conversation by writing, “Prince William fighting to keep the umbrella over his wife’s head as they depart from the church after Peter Phillips’ wedding today.”
This statement sparked responses from other royal watchers who said that William appeared more concerned with keeping Kate dry than worrying about himself.
“He’s always watching out for Catherine,” commented one fan. A second penned, “Rain is awful enough, add to that the strong wind is going to scupper any gesture by William to be the gallant gentleman.”

A third follower noted, “It is so cute how he focuses on her.” Lastly, a fourth social media user claimed, “He has many responsibilities; he recognizes this as his number one.”
Nearly all of the working senior royals traveled to Phillips and Sperling’s wedding in the village of Kemble, near Cirencester in Gloucestershire. Attendees, per Express, included Kate and William, Edward and Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and King Charles with Camilla Parker Bowles.
Also in attendance were Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, daughters of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson. This marked the first appearance of Queen Elizabeth‘s granddaughters since their father’s arrest in February 2026.
