Prince William has opened up about his childhood with his brother, Prince Harry. The duo has often been in the news due to their “royal rift.” Recently, the Prince of Wales appeared on Apple TV+’s travel show, “The Reluctant Traveler”. Soon, he recalled the challenges he and Prince Harry faced during their childhood.
Prince William Makes Rare Comments About Childhood With Prince Harry
During an episode of “The Reluctant Traveler”, Prince William shared his and Prince Harry’s childhood struggles and how he wishes to protect his son, Prince George. The Prince of Wales was asked about his son becoming the king someday. To which, he replied, “It’s an interesting question and it’s a big question that one.” He further added, “there are lots of things to think about with that.”
However, William wishes “to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better.” The 43-year-old stated, “That is caveated with, I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past, that Harry and I had to grow up in.” He also shared that he will “do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation.”
William was also asked about his wish for his kids to lead a “normal home life.” He answered that the influence started with his late mother, Princess Diana. He explained that it is “really important that that atmosphere is created at home.” “You have to have that warmth, that feeling of safety, security, love.” The royal continued, “That all has to be there, and that was certainly part of my childhood. My parents got divorced at eight, so that lasted a short period of time.”
Prince William also mentioned, “You take that and you learn from it and you try and make sure you don’t do the same mistakes as your parents.” The royal member added, “I think we all try and do that, and I just want to do what’s best for my children.” Nevertheless, he knows “that the drama and the stress when you’re small really affects you when you’re older.”
