Prince William Takes Followers Behind the Scenes of Windsor Castle Meeting in Unexpected Video

Prince William is taking social media followers inside a meeting at Windsor Castle.

On Monday, Sept. 29, the Instagram and X pages for the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a behind-the-scenes look at William, 43, welcoming the Crown Prince of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Sabah, to Windsor.

The video showed Prince William entering the royal residence wearing a suit and tie before greeting the fellow royal heir, 72, inside. Footage showed the men chatting and shaking hands, intercut with views of Windsor Castle.

While some royal audiences are held behind closed doors, it’s customary for King Charles to have a photographer capture his meetings with foreign dignitaries. The social media video of Prince William’s visit from the Crown Prince of Kuwait follows similar clips from William and Kate Middleton‘s public outings in recent years.

In addition to social media videos, the Prince and Princess of Wales have also shared more personal or behind-the-scenes images of themselves — such as the outdoor snap of the couple before the France state banquet in July or the Trooping the Colour family photo with their three children in June.

The video also showed an example of some of the royal work that goes on largely behind the scenes.

Prince William and Princess Kate’s embrace of social media is just one of the ways they are modernizing the monarchy. They also prioritize mental health, family wellness and work-life balance and focus on issues like climate change, homelessness and child welfare.

A spokesman told PEOPLE in 2023, “The Prince and Princess are keen to do things in their own way.”

That may include his future coronation ceremony.

A source close to Prince William was quoted in The Sunday Times, saying that the royal heir “is really thinking, how do we make this coronation feel more relevant in the future? He is mindful of the fact that in 20 years’ time, or whenever his time comes, how can the coronation be modern but also unifying to the nation and the Commonwealth?”

“I think his coronation will look and feel quite different,” the source continued.
