The Prince of Wales’s tough approach to handling his uncle Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s scandal has been pinpointed by a royal author. Prince William was one of the first royals to distance himself from the disgraced former Duke of York, after releasing a statement alongside his wife, Princess Catherine, ahead of his tour in Saudi Arabia last month.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson said that William and Catherine are “deeply concerned by the continuing revelations” that have emerged in the Epstein files, adding that their “thoughts remain with the victims”. It came days before Andrew’s humiliating arrest at his home in Norfolk.
Now, reports have suggested that while King Charles has a bit of a softer approach and remains “very fond” of his two nieces, Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, the monarchy as a whole could gradually distance themselves even more with the “York branch”.
Royal author Andrew Lownie told People magazine: “William wants it all cleaned out before he gets [on the throne].
“He wants it dealt with now.
Another royal author, Ingrid Seward, said that Beatrice and Eugenie will ultimately be affected by their father’s downfall.
She told the outlet: “They are tarnished by this. It has affected their lives a great deal.”
Mr Lownie added: “They’re caught between a rock and a hard place over loyalty to their parents and their future.”

Andrew was arrested last month on suspicion of misconduct in public office, after the Epstein files revealed he may have shared confidential information with the convicted sex offender while he was the UK’s trade envoy.
He was released after 11 hours under investigation.
The disgraced former prince has always denied any wrongdoing.
