Prince William’s light-hearted approach to Monarchy was praised online after a clip of his “less serious” moments went viral.
The Prince of Wales has come fresh off a very unconventional royal interview in which he talked about what kind of king he might be, not with a major U.K. news outlet, but with actor Eugene Levy, on his Apple TV travel show.
It is perhaps no surprise that at the same time a TikTok edit celebrating his fun side was liked 223,000 times and viewed 1,900,000 times, having been posted with the on-screen caption: “Prince William has to be the less serious future king ever.”

As King Charles III enters the fourth year of his reign, Prince William has clearly been thinking about his own time as king and how he might do things differently to his father, whose strengths have always been as a thinker.

The video was posted with the message: “I love these videos of him dancing.”
The first clip showed William arriving to his interview with Levy for the Canadian’s show The Reluctant Traveller on an electric scooter before cutting to the prince “dad dancing” in the stands at Wembley Stadium during Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in 2024.
Next came a clip of William putting his hand over Kate’s eyes to distract her as they prepared for a light hearted race in support of the Heads Together mental health project they did with Prince Harry in 2017.
A further clip showed William dancing in ceremonial dress at a Vaiku Falekaupule Ceremony in Funafuti, Tuvalu, during a tour in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, on September 18, 2012.
And at King Charles’ Coronation Concert at Windsor on May 7, 2023, William could be seen waving a Union Jack flag alongside Prince George.
What Prince William Told Eugene Levy
Prince William’s actual interview struck a warm and informal yet more serious tone, however, as he indicated he wanted to leave his mark on the Monarchy: “Change is on my agenda.”
“Change for good and I embrace that and I enjoy that,” he continued, “I don’t fear it. That’s the bit that excites me. Not overly radical change, but changes that I think need to happen.”
He also talked about missing Queen Elizabeth II, who died in 2022, and Prince Philip who died in 2021: “I do miss my grandmother and my grandfather.
“It’s been quite a bit of change, so you do sort of—you think about them not being here anymore and particularly being in Windsor, for me Windsor is her.
“She loved it here; she spent most of her time here. Showing you around today is very much a case of trying to make sure I’m doing it in the way she’d want you to see it.”
