Princess Anne featured in a video celebrating The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, where she hailed Ukrainian involvement in this year’s event.

The clip, posted on X on Sunday by the organisation, showed the Princess Royal discussing the significance of volunteer performers who contribute to the annual spectacle.

In her comments, King Charles’s sister specifically acknowledged the international support the charity receives, singling out Ukrainian participants as a particular honour for this year’s programme.

The 75-year-old royal, who serves as patron of the military showcase, also reflected on her enjoyment of attending rehearsals each year.

Speaking in the video, Anne emphasised the voluntary nature of the performers’ commitment.

“These are people who fundamentally volunteer from doing other busy things to be part of this. And they come from all across the globe,” she stated.

The Princess Royal went on to express particular gratitude for the international dimension of this year’s event.

“This year in particular, I think we have been very honoured to have that range of global support, particularly from the Ukrainians,” she said.

Today, we’re sharing a clip of our Patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, reflecting on the importance of our Tattoo Performers and why she enjoys attending our rehearsals each year.

Her comments highlighted both the dedication required from participants and the meaningful contribution made by performers travelling from overseas to take part.

It comes after Princess Anne made a surprise visit to Ukraine in late September, meeting President Zelensky, visiting St Sophia’s Cathedral, paying respects at a children’s memorial, and showing support for those affected by the war, including veterans and relocated children.

The visit was made at the request of the UK Foreign Office and followed a similar trip by her nephew, Prince Harry.

Anne inherited the patronage of the Edinburgh Tattoo from her mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, in 2006, and has maintained a dedicated presence at the event ever since.

The organisation acknowledged her commitment in their post, noting that she regularly attends rehearsals and engages directly with cast members.

In their tribute, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo expressed gratitude for the countless performers who have shaped the event across its 75-year history.

“We would not be here without our committed tattoo performers and cast members, both from home and across the globe,” the organisation stated, praising the talent, dedication and energy participants bring to every performance.

The annual showcase brings together British Military performers alongside international acts from around the world. Next year’s event is scheduled to run from August 7 to August 29. The video prompted an enthusiastic response from royal supporters online.

One viewer, unfamiliar with the Tattoo, wrote that after researching the event, they discovered a “world-class show” and understood why the Princess Royal attends rehearsals to show her support.

Another fan simply described Anne as “a good one,” while a third praised her eyewear, commenting that her sunglasses were “iconic.”
