It has been claimed relatives of Beatrice’s property-developing husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 42, are raging at the Epstein scandal swirling around the former Duke of York, fearing it could affect their own family. This will put extra strain on mother-of-two Beatrice, 37, and Edoardo’s six-year marriage, as well as her own career as vice president of strategic partnerships at a major software company.
Out of the two sisters, Beatrice has been more visible in showing her support to her father – joining him for a day out at Royal Lodge before his dramatic February move to Sandringham.
With Eugenie, 35, and her husband Jack Brooksbank, 39, living in Portugal they are less on hand than Beatrice, keeping them at a greater distance from their mum and dad.
Beatrice has tried to be the loyal daughter while also maintaining enough distance to avoid being dragged under the storm clouds still soaking Fergie and Andrew daily.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond suggested the princesses should publicly step away from their toxic parents by only using their married surnames from now on.
Ms Bond said to their credit the princesses had never been known for heavily promoting their royal status but stepping away from being ‘Princesses of York’ could be a sensible longterm decision.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his royal and military titles in October last year due to his links with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and is no longer the Duke of York.
Fergie has also given up her duchess title, with her and the two children named repeatedly within the Epstein Files released by the US Department of Justice.
The files show that in 2009 Eugenie and Beatrice joined their mum on a flight to the US to celebrate Epstein’s release from prison for a charge of procuring a 14-year-old child for sex.
While Andrew and Fergie have both been turfed out of the Crown Estate’s Royal Lodge in recent weeks, Beatrice and Eugenie still both boast properties within royal palaces.
Older sibling Beatrice has an apartment in St James’s Palace while Eugenie has Ivy Cottage, a three-bedroom property at Kensington Palace.
It may be time for both sisters to forgo all links to the toxic York name, and those palace properties.
Being loyal to their parents is admirable, but Fergie and Andrew made their own decisions to befriend Epstein and maintain those links through thick and thin.
Now Eugenie and especially Beatrice need to step away and focus on their own families and children.
