Princess Beatrice may hold the title of a British princess, but she is also entitled to use another style. Beatrice was given the title of a princess because, at the time of her birth, she was the granddaughter of a monarch, the late Queen Elizabeth II, through her father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, a male-line descendant.
Royals are entitled to a princely title and an HRH style only if they are children, male-line grandchildren of the monarch and the eldest son of the heir, according to Letters Patent from 1917.
But she and her children, unlike her sister Princess Eugenie and her two sons, also hold another title of Italian nobility, which many fans may not be aware of.
Beatrice is also a countess thanks to her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who is celebrating his 42nd birthday today.
Edo is an Italian count, which means his wife and children also get a count or countess title.
His father, Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, told the Daily Mail before their marriage in July 2017: “They are very suited to each other and have known each other for a long time. I’ve never seen him so happy.
“’Edoardo is the only male descendant taking the family into the next generation. He is a count – his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna.”
Edo, who is the founder and creative director of Banda Property, shares two daughters with the King’s niece, four-year-old Sienna and baby Athena, who is less than one year old.
He also shares son Christopher Woolf ‘Wolfie’, nine, with his former partner, American architect Dara Huang.
