Princess Catherine exuded “new levels of confidence” at the State Banquet held for the President of Nigeria, a body language expert has claimed. On Wednesday evening, the Princess of Wales, 44, joined the Prince of Wales, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and senior royals in welcoming Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, to Windsor Castle.
Catherine opted for a glamorous, long-sleeved, green evening dress by Singaporean fashion designer Andrew Gn at the event. The future Queen’s demure, high-necked dress was the same shade of green as Nigeria’s green and white flag.
Body language expert, Judi James, exclusively told the Daily Express: “There is something daunting about the royal line-up here that suggests restored and repaired strength and uncompromising power after all the recent scandals.”
Speaking of Princess Catherine’s look, she added: “Kate’s dress was simpler than usual in an un-flashy, serious-looking, flowing bottle green but she has never looked fiercer, wearing the teardrop tiara as though it were made for her, with her posture and facial expression exuding new levels of confidence at the kind of event that, in the past, might have seen her looking nervous.”
Ms James further stated: “With Anne and Tim hosting Anne’s youngest brother, nephew William and his wife into the room the message seems to be one of a family team looking strong again.
“Charles, though, continued to host the visit like a friendship event with some mirrored body language with the Nigerian President and a speech that looked full of chuckles of complicit fun and good humour.”
The King and the Prince of Wales both wore white tie and the Windsor tail coat, with medals, chest and neck orders and decorations.
The Queen was wearing a cream, embroidered gown by Fiona Clare, a sapphire and diamond tiara with matching earrings which belonged to the late Queen, a diamond serpent necklace, the Garter sash and star, and the King’s family order.
The first state visit in 37 years. President Bola Tinubu was in the UK on 18 and 19 March 2026.
