Makeup magnate Bobbi Brown has finally clarified the rumors surrounding Kate Middleton‘s wedding day makeup. The Royal couple, Prince William and Kate Middleton, tied the knot on April 29, 2011, in a grand ceremony that rivaled the opulence of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s 1981 nuptials.
The bride was a vision of beauty as she arrived at Westminster Abbey in a 1978 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI, with millions worldwide eagerly anticipating the reveal of her exquisite gown. At the time, speculation was rife that the princess had done her own makeup, but no confirmation or denial was ever given.
However, Bobbi Brown has now disclosed that while Kate did use her products, it wasn’t the princess herself who applied them.
In an interview on the Breaking Beauty podcast, the 68 year old makeup artist told hosts Carlene Higgins and Jill Dunn,”I did not do her makeup. I wish I did. It was one of my artists, Hannah Martin, who’s become quite a sensation in the UK.”
She continued: “Hannah did give me some information that I should set my alarm and watch. And we were texting back and forth, and she’s like, ‘Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god’.”, reports the Express.
The makeup mogul, whose namesake brand is adored by millions globally, also revealed that the future Queen sent a note of appreciation after her special day.
She shared, “I did get a note though, that I have hanging now in my office, not from Kate, but from the person that wrote her letters saying how much she appreciated the makeup.”
When questioned about why they didn’t take credit for Kate’s makeup appearance, Ms Brown explained, “We didn’t as a company use it – no one did that back then. It wasn’t the right thing to do.”
Princess Kate’s half-updo was created by hairstylists James Pryce and Richard Ward from the Richard Ward Salon in London.
The hairstyle was carefully crafted to keep her breathtaking Cartier Halo tiara firmly positioned and prevent a repetition of Princess Diana’s wedding, where she was spotted having to adjust the sparkling accessory during the ceremony.
Mr Pryce previously revealed to the Telegraph, “We came up with a unique concept for securing it.
“We backcombed the top to create a foundation for the tiara to sit around, then did a tiny plait in the middle and sewed it on. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.”
