Radial Entertainment and BondIt Media Capital have acquired exclusive worldwide digital distribution rights in perpetuity to the long-running unscripted series Cheaters, under an agreement with Goldstein Pictures Corporation.
The deal gives Radial Entertainment digital rights to the franchise across all platforms and territories, with Goldstein Pictures retaining linear television rights to the show as well as the underlying intellectual property. Cheaters was a popular weekly syndicated reality show that launched in 2000 and ran for 21 seasons and more then 700 episodes. The show’s format involved a “Cheaters Detective Agency” that would carry out investigations on behalf of people who suspect their partners of romantic infidelity.
BondIt Media Capital advised and supported the rights holder on the transaction, building on its ongoing relationship with Cheaters creator and rights holder Bobby Goldstein. BondIt has worked with Goldstein since 2019 on the financing, distribution strategy and library monetization for his Cheaters franchise.
Radial Entertainment, the group formed last year by the merger of Shout! Studios and FilmRise, both of which are owned by private equity group Oaktree Capital Management, has been snatching up digital rights to library programming to build up its already sizable catalog. Last fall, the group inked a licensing deal for Conan, acquiring exclusive on-demand U.S. streaming rights to all 11 seasons of Conan O’Brien’s late-night series, which originally aired on TBS from 2010 to 2021.
Since 2022, FilmRise has distributed the 21 seasons of Cheaters across domestic AVOD and FAST platforms. Radial plans to expand the franchise’s digital distribution footprint internationally.
The Cheaters deal was negotiated by David Buoymaster on behalf of Radial Entertainment, with Matthew Helderman advising Goldstein Pictures Corporation.
