OHIO — Ohio is known for its plethora of breweries, but it also has a large craft cider scene.
To celebrate its brewers and America’s 250th birthday, the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Liquor Control announced the new Ohio Hard Cider Trail, which Ohioans can explore starting now through Dec. 1.
“The Ohio Hard Cider Trail offers a meaningful opportunity to connect Ohioans with a beverage that helped shape daily life in our state and across early America,” Division Superintendent Jackie DeGenova said. “Hard cider has deep roots in our shared history, from the orchards planted by Johnny Appleseed to the craft cideries revitalizing the tradition today. We’re excited to invite Ohioans to explore this revival, support our local makers, and learn more about a drink that has been part of our story from the very beginning.”
Those 21 and older can pick up the Ohio Hard Cider Trail passport at more than a dozen participating cideries, or individuals can download and print the digital passport online.
Through the journey, Ohioans can collect stamps by visiting the participating cideries. It’s not mandated to consume a beverage to get a stamp.
Individuals who collect one stamp can be entered into a raffle to receive cider-themed items from the cideries. Those who collect six or more stamps through December could receive a limited-edition America250-Ohio Hard Cider Trail bottle-opening commemorative coin.
Passports can be redeemed online — participants must submit a photo of their completed passport and complete a submission form.
