Writing for HELLO! Magazine, Mr Jobson explained: “But there will be no detour. While some close to the palace quietly suggest the Sussexes could travel east for a discreet meeting in Washington, their presence would dominate headlines, eclipsing the state visit, so for that reason, it remains improbable.”
Although the visit has not yet been officially confirmed, it is expected to take place in April 2026, with Queen Camilla likely to accompany her husband.
In addition to Harry, a detour across the US would also allow the King a rare opportunity to see his two youngest grandchildren.
The King is reportedly “very sad” over the lack of relationship that he has with Archie and Lilibet.
Although Archie was born in the UK in 2019, the monarch has not been able to spend much time with him, as he moved to the US before his first birthday.
It is believed that the doting grandfather has only met his granddaughter once in 2022 when the Sussex family returned to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
