Kristin Cavallari, a reality TV star known for appearing on shows like “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” and “The Hills,” has opened up about the challenges of establishing sleep routines with her children.
On a recent episode of her podcast “Let’s Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari,” the star revealed that her son Jaxon “came in my room every single night for four years” to sleep next to her.
Now, Cavallari says that Jaxon, 11, and her daughter Saylor, 9, sleep in her room only once per week.
“‘You guys get one night a week with me, we can’t do every other night,’” she said, explaining that she had to pare down their prior arrangement.
The topic came up during the episode when Cavallari discussed the benefits of having a night nurse to help take care of her children. Jaxon in particular latched on to the tradition when he was younger, she said, despite efforts to get him to sleep by himself in his room.
“Once he realized he could get out of this bed . . . we would bring him back, he would come back. It didn’t matter,” she said. “We did and tried everything.”
Cavallari added: “I would be so tired that I would be like, just get in, OK?”
The TV star said that she does “enjoy” sleeping next to her kids, but that the arrangement poses challenges in the morning when she wakes up earlier than they do.
“I want to be able to have the freedom to move about my room and get dressed in the morning without [being] worried about waking someone up,” she said.
