This team, during my mandate, has ambitious goals that will strengthen the activities and recognition of the institution that creates cultural and music policies in Montenegro, said the business director of the Music Center of Montenegro, Vučić Ćetković, at a press conference held yesterday.
The conference, organized in the Chamber Hall of the Music Center, was held to present the new plans of this cultural institution to the interested public, as well as to organize the first public presentation of the new business director.
Ćetković said that this position carries with it great responsibilities related to the further functioning of the Music Center, but also great satisfaction from working with professional and dedicated colleagues.
“Only together can we develop the Music Center as a modern and active institution that responds to the needs of the audience, but also of society as a whole. Taking on this position brings numerous challenges regarding the further vision of the development of the institution in the field of its existence, the functioning of the ensembles, as well as the foundation and justification of the designated costs of certain programs. However, this position also has an extremely positive aspect of managing the institution, and these are certainly professionals, dedicated and responsible people, whose knowledge and experience represent a stable support for the Music Center,” he said.
Ćetković pointed out that the Music Center team is planning reforms in the functioning and promotion of organizational units, which includes educating the music audience through various programs.
“The Music Center team, headed by me, is initiating reforms in the functioning and promotion of all organizational units, which will include greater representation of the promotion of the highest quality domestic artists in our halls, promotion outside the borders of our country, but also in other cities in Montenegro. We also see an increasingly prominent role in educating the music audience, both through the written word and through educational programs intended for different age groups,” Ćetković emphasized.
The new business director of the Music Center said that, despite the defined budget, development steps require that additional financial resources be sought among potential donors.
“When we talk about ambitious development plans, we always think about finances and budgets, which are the foundation of stability and important instruments of development. Although the budget was defined by the founders and amounts to around 2,5 million euros, as envisaged in the draft for 2026, we are aware that development steps require additional sources of funding. This is precisely where we see room for partnerships with donors, foundations and socially responsible companies. Investing in culture, and especially in national orchestras, is not just financial support – it is an investment in identity, international reputation and long-term value of society. Being a donor to national orchestras, but also other ensembles, is a matter of prestige,” he said.
Artistic Director of the Music Center, Marko Simovic, said that he hopes that in the anniversary season they will succeed in completing the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra into a full-fledged symphony ensemble.
“Today, the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra has a respectable 60 members, and in 2026, of course, new obligations await us. In that sense, I truly hope that in the jubilee, 20th season, we will almost reach our goal and complete the symphony ensemble,” said Simović.
Head of the publishing and educational sector, Jelena Jovanović Nikolić, expressed her desire for this sector of the Music Center to become a key factor in shaping the audience.
“I would like to see the publishing and educational sector, above all, as a pivot for shaping the audience. And not only the youngest listeners, but also as a corrective factor for all lovers of highly artistic music of various genres. In that sense, our role and commitment are clear and are clearly manifested through the programs we implement,” she said.
