It looks like Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan won’t stop anytime soon with his killing spree. Why, you ask? Dexter: Resurrection, a spin-off from the Dexter franchise, has officially been renewed for a second season.
Michael C. Hall posted a confirmation video on Dexter’s official channel on YouTube. Sharing the exciting update, he said, “We’ve been greenlit for another season. There’s more to come. The writers room is assembling now. Details will be forthcoming, but I wanted to be the first to let you know that the story continues.”
With 4.4 million viewers across multiple platforms, Resurrection is a continuation of another Dexter spinoff, Dexter: New Blood. It follows Dexter’s journey weeks after he wakes from a coma, having taken a bullet from his son, Harrison, only to find him missing without any traces. Resurrection sets Dexter on a New York City quest to find Harrison and reconcile their strained relationship.
The first season featured Uma Thurman, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Emilia Suárez, James Remar, Peter Dinklage, and more, alongside, of course, Michael C. Hall in the titular role.
Obviously, since the writer’s room has only just begun, it’s too soon to know who, what, and how for the second season. Unfortunately, unlike Resurrection, another Dexter spinoff had trouble taking off. Following the high-profile merger of Paramount+ and Skydance, Dexter: Original Sin faced cancellation after being renewed for a second season.
