Revisiting Taylor Swift’s 2023 ‘Independent Girlies’ 4th of July Party Before Travis Kelce Wedding

Could it be that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s 4th of July weekend wedding was written in the stars all along?

Swift and Kelce are expected to say “I do” at Madison Square Garden in New York City, nearly one year after announcing their engagement in August 2025.

A source exclusively told Us Weekly in early July 2026 that the pop star and the NFL athlete are planning to have a “whimsical” celebration. Just days before the presumed wedding date, a fleet of trucks was spotted making deliveries at MSG to drop off technical equipment, decor and even food.

Swift and Kelce have not publicly disclosed wedding day details in advance, but getting married over the 4th of July holiday actually makes perfect sense considering the origins of their love story. Allow Us to explain below:

Swift is known to gather her nearest and dearest celebrity BFFs for blowout patriotic bashes at her Rhode Island mansion. In July 2023, Swift and several of her fellow single pals gathered at the residence.

“Happy belated Independence Day from your local neighborhood independent girlies 😎,” Swift wrote via Instagram on July 7, 2023, sharing backyard pics with Selena Gomez, Ashley Avignone, Este Haim, Danielle Haim and Alana Haim.

Swift closed out her note, “See you tonight Kansas Cityyy,” referring to her Eras Tour concert that night at KC’s Arrowhead Stadium.

The ‘Eras Tour’ Concert That Started It All

Swift performed in Kansas City twice in July 2023, one of which Kelce attended with Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes. The way Kelce put it on his “New Heights” podcast days later, he was so “mesmerized” by Swift’s set that he wanted to exchange phone numbers.

Kelce memorably claimed on his podcast that he was “butthurt” about not being able to meet Swift backstage before or after the show to trade digits.

But thanks to Swift’s relatives, the Grammy winner was sent a recording of Kelce’s podcast episode and privately got in touch. The duo secretly dated for months, making their public debut at a Chiefs game in September 2023. Kelce proposed two years later.

‘Tay Voodoo’ Strikes Again

In the years since that fateful 2023 party, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Swift, Gomez and Este all found love within months after the girls’ gathering.

Gomez began dating producer Benny Blanco in 2023, ultimately getting married in September 2025. Este, for her part, married Jonathan Levin in December 2025, one year after the tech entrepreneur popped the question.

“How deranged is that post? I think back on that I’m like, ‘There’s no way,’” Swift quipped on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mashup Show in October 2025. “If we break this down, I’m in this picture with a bunch of girls — not just me and Selena — [but] a few of the other girls found their person right after that.”

She continued, “I [wrote] like, ‘Happy Independence Day from your local single girlies’ or something like that and then the next day go and play in Kansas City, not knowing that Travis was going to come to the show. It’s unreal. … I’m just thinking how grateful I am that he exists, and also how happy I am for my friends when they find happiness.”

Us and multiple other outlets reported that Swift and Kelce are set to tie the knot on July 3, 2026, though the couple have not shared any advance details. A cohort of fans even think the newlyweds might share the news in a way mimicking her 2023 post.

“I find it truly beautiful they will party into the early hours of July 4th where she can officially say she’s no longer an independent girlie!” one fan tweeted, with another adding, “I’ve never seen so many videos speculating on why Taylor decided to get married on the 4th of July holiday, when we’ve got this invisible line [of her 2023 post] right here.”
