Jeana Keough’s kids are remaining hopeful and positive as The Real Housewives of Orange County star continues treatment for tongue cancer.
“She’s strong through this. She’s got a good support network down there,” Shane Keough exclusively told Us when marking 20 years of RHOC. “Colton, our younger brother, is there [in Orange County, California], so she’s on the right path. But you know, it’s tough for everybody, and we’re just trying to make sure she stays on her program so she’s strong when this is done.”
While Kara Keough — who is based in Florida with Shane, 39 — acknowledged that there are still a lot of unknowns in their mom’s cancer journey, she’s determined to see only good things ahead.
“We don’t know. We won’t know anything,” Kara, 37, said about her mom’s prognosis. “I think she’ll get cancer to bend to her will, like she does with everything else in life. We’re choosing to stay in that mindset.”
Over the weekend, Shane and Kara revealed their mom’s cancer diagnosis in a joint Instagram post. A GoFundMe page has also been set up, which aims to raise funds that will go directly toward expenses, everyday living costs, nutrition and additional support for Jeana.
In less than 24 hours, Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Judge, Carmella Garcia, Andy Cohen, Bode Miller and more stars have offered financial support to the Keough family.
“She cried when I showed her how many of you have donated, sent prayers and offered advice and help. We’re reading all your encouraging words and my sweet mama is blown away by the kindness and generosity of so many of you,” Kara wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, July 19. “As her kid — knowing the scale and depth of her current struggles — I will sleep so much better tonight because of all of you. … Truly. You’ve helped her in more ways than I can tell you.”

In Jeana’s GoFundMe page, Kara confirmed that her mom has squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue or tongue cancer.
The real estate agent is now in her fifth week of chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy.
“She refuses to acknowledge that she’s sick, and I think that the cancer will believe her and follow suit,” Kara told Us.
As for why the Keough family wanted to share the news now, Kara explained that her trip from Florida to Orange County over the weekend gave her a firsthand look at what her mom is facing.
“I realize even more how much support she needs — not just while I’m here, but after I return home,” Kara wrote via the GoFundMe page. “My brothers and I want to help make sure Mom feels cared for, loved and supported throughout this fight. … Your kindness, encouragement, and support mean more to our family than we can express.”
