Alt-rock Irish artist and producer Ria Rua has today released her latest single, Ass Movin’ a ferociously energetic track that marks the final release before her debut album SCAPEG.O.A.T., out 27th February. Listen here. Pre-order the album here. The single is accompanied by a live-action music video, continuing Rua’s signature blend of electrifying sound and bold visual storytelling.

Ass Movin’ captures Rua at her unapologetic best, a track bursting with thunderous drums and electrifying melodies, designed to make listeners move while showcasing her fearless artistic identity. The song exemplifies her ability to fuse high-energy alt-rock with eclectic pop sensibilities, creating an anthem that’s both provocative and addictive.

Speaking on the track, Ria says… “Ass Movin’ is a song about being around toxic people, realising it and getting out of there, so they can’t hurt you anymore.”

Uncompromising and unique, Rua began building her radical musical world at 22, transforming hard-won freedom into authentic art. Her music tackles topics often absent from mainstream pop – ADHD, bisexuality, and defying societal norms – reflecting her journey of self-discovery. Growing up in rural Meath, Ireland, often feeling like an outcast, Rua found her voice in music, from marching bands to percussion ensembles, eventually shaping a cinematic and radical sound influenced by Björk, Nine Inch Nails, Sonic Youth, and Billie Eilish.

Rua aims to create a sense of belonging for young neurodivergent and queer women, inspiring self-expression without shame. She channels empowerment, sexual expression, and defiance into her music, taking inspiration from Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman. Her debut album SCAPEG.O.A.T., out 27th February, is a bold statement of individuality, freedom, and unapologetic artistry.

Ria Rua will take the album on the road in early 2026, performing at Whelan’s in Dublin on 26 February, Róisín Dubh in Galway on 28 February, Fred Zeppelins in Cork on 5 March, and Banana Block in Belfast on 28 March, with support across all dates.
