Riley Green is on tour in Australia, and during a show at the Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne, a fan threw a phone at him, leaving him bleeding.
When Riley took the stage to a sold-out crowd, he was struck in the neck by a phone. The “Worst Way” singer stopped the concert and called for the lights, then had the fan escorted out of the arena by security. Blood was seen running down his neck, but Riley didn’t miss a beat.
According to fan videos shared on TikTok, Riley was hit in the neck by a phone. He handed his guitar to a member of his crew, then asked for the house lights to be turned on. He took a moment to thank his fans for attending the show, while a roadie wiped blood from his neck. He laughed and said, “Damn, am I bleeding? See how tough I am?”
He went right back to playing, telling the crowd, “You can get your phones out, and you can turn the flashlight on, but don’t throw them at me.” He ended the show singing “Dixieland Delight” with his openers, including Jake Worthington, who donned a hard hat.
While Riley made light of the situation, writing on Instagram that he almost “ran outta anytime minutes,” the paramedics at the arena treated him with care. He shared photos on his Instagram Story receiving medical attention resulting in five stitches.
While Riley’s tour continues with more dates in Australia this month, fans are awaiting his acting debut on Yellowstone spinoff Marshals. He has credited Taylor Sheridan’s shows for helping to introduce the country lifestyle to an international audience. In an interview with Stingray Music, he said of the genre’s increasing popularity, “Well, I think that a lot of the television has really worked lately. The ‘Yellowstones’ and that western lifestyle has gotten so popular everywhere. But also, I think that the storytelling of country music is something that people can really appreciate everywhere.”
