Robin Antin is paying tribute to Lauren Bennett after her death.
“To my beautiful best friend Lauren Bennett, there are some people who come into your life and become so much more than a friend. Lauren, you were my family, from the age of 16, when we first met, my chosen sister, my creative partner, and such a treasured part of my heart,” the Pussycat Dolls founder, 65, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, July 9. “Those who knew you as an artist, knew the extraordinary talent that you were & will be forever … beautiful, captivating, and endlessly gifted. But I had the privilege of knowing the Lauren behind the spotlight.”
Antin continued, “You were wonderfully funny, delightfully silly, endlessly caring, fiercely loyal and the kind of friend who made everyone around you feel loved. Your laugh was contagious, your smile could light up any room, and your heart was a beautiful as your beauty & voice.”
News broke earlier this month that Bennett, who was known for her feature on LMFAO’s 2011 hit “Party Rock Anthem,” died in the Meopham village of Kent, England, in May ahead of her 37th birthday.
Bennett’s death is currently under investigation in England. The Kent and Medway Coroner Service is closely examining the case and it could take until October before the inquest is formally concluded.
In her message, Antin went on to reflect on how they “shared so much together, so many years of dreams, so many stages and so many unforgettable moments.”
“While the world is now admiring your talent, I always admired your talent and spirit. You gave so much of yourself to everyone you loved. There will never be another Lauren Bennett,” Antin wrote. “My heart aches everyday knowing that I can’t see you, call you & that you aren’t able to witness the incredible outpouring of love and recognition that has followed. You deserved every bit of it while you were here.”
Antin continued, “I truly believe, somehow, that you can feel it now. I hope you know just how deeply you were loved, how profoundly you mattered and how many lives you changed simply by being you. Above all, let’s honor Lauren with the grace and the compassion she deserves during this unimaginable time.”
Antin shared that she’s looking forward to “sharing some of Lauren’s most iconic moments with the fans who loved her so dearly.”
“The stage was where she came alive,” Antin noted. “It was where she was completely herself. Lauren’s voice and her heart were truly one of a kind, every performance reflected the joy, passion and light she carried within her. Lauren, thank you for every uncontrollable laugh … every conversation at 3 a.m. about everything from Playground merch to creating new shows, every adventure, every dream and every memory.”
She concluded, “Thank you for being my family. My mum, Dad & brothers absolutely adored you. Thank you for sharing your extraordinary gift with all of us. You have left a mark on this world that will never fade and a placed in my heart that can never be filled. I love & miss you endlessly, my beautiful friend. Love Robin! Xx.”
