Rochester, N.Y. — The City of Rochester is taking a new approach to promoting diverse and accessible music programming throughout the summer.
Mayor Malik Evans and others held a press conference Tuesday to unveil the lineup for the city’s inaugural Rochester Summer Groves entertainment lineup.
The initiative includes the city’s annual Party in the Park outdoor concert series, free RPO Around Town ensemble shows and more.
Summer in Rochester is heating up, and this year, we’re supporting an incredible, summer-long, live music lineup,” Evans said in a statement. “Including performances by national stars at ESL Ballpark and Blue Cross Arena, and the return of the popular Party in the Park and concert series, Summer Grooves offers so much variety, there’s truly something for every music fan in town.

Later in the summer, R&B singer Keith Sweat will headline the Rochester R&B Festival at the Blue Cross Arena. The Sept. 5 show features an all-star lineup including Ginuwine, Joe, Dru Hill and Kut Klose. CLICK HERE to buy tickets, which are also available for sale at the arena’s ticket office.
The city is also highlighting local R&B singer Danielle Ponder as the headliner for the city’s annual Juneteenth Festival, which will take place June 20 from 12 to 8 p.m. The event is free.
Party in the Park will be held every Thursday evening in July and August in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park. The events will each start at 5 p.m. and feature local food vendors, craft beer, wine and more. The show lineup is:
- July 9 – The Seven Wonders (A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac) and Highway Boys (A Tribute to Zach Bryan)
- July 16 – Almost Queen and Philadelphia Freedom
- July 23 – Samantha Fish and Adam Ezra Group
- July 30 – Start Making Sense and The Dip
- Aug. 6 – Smash Mouth and Sophistafunk
- Aug. 13 – Blackberry Smoke

Additionally, the RPO Under the Stars show, an evening of free music by the full Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, will return July 10 from 6 to 10 p.m. It’s part of the Downtown Definitely event series.
RPO Around Town concerts will take place every Tuesday in July at 6:30 p.m.
