Earlier this year, we reported on music-education firm Roli’s launch of an ‘AI Music Coach’ to help people learn to play the company’s Airwave instrument.
Now it’s branching out to more-traditional keyboards. The company has launched a partnership with Casio, debuting a ‘Roli Learn for Casio’ app in the UK and Japan this month.
It promises “an immersive, game-like experience tailored to individual skill levels and features a globally curated selection of music tracks spanning genres from pop to classical”.
It’s the first time that Roli has developed a version of its music-education software for another instrument-maker, with the app compatible with Casio’s Privia, Celviano and Casiotone devices.
It’s the latest chapter in Roli’s story, which began with super high-end ‘Seaboard’ keyboards but evolved towards music education with 2020’s ‘Lumi’ device. Business challenges led it to file for administration in 2021, before returning and doubling down on the education space.
