It’s the opening day of the Rosetown and District Music Festival. Piano performances will start the week before vocal and instrumental talents take over tomorrow, and then after a theatre event on Friday things will remain idle until the music awards and final concert coming up next Thursday evening.
The festival is taking place at the Rosetown Alliance Church, programming starting early as 9:00 AM on Monday. Each of Monday thru Wednesday will see three piano sessions each at 9:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 6:30 PM before a final morning showing at 9:00 AM on Thursday. After that the vocal and instrumental talents will begin at 1:00 PM and 6:30 PM, before speech, arts, school groups, and musical theatre takes over with two sessions on Friday, one at 9:00 AM and another at 1:00 PM. After the week of performances and adjudications the awards concert will be held next week, March 26, at 7:00 PM right back at the Alliance Church.
Anyone interested in watching throughout the week can purchase an all sessions pass for $25, and a program for $15. Anyone wanting to attend a single session, as well as the final concert will be asked for admission by donation.
The 2026 edition represents the 97th running of the local festival, President Claire Seibold just one of the many people helping get things underway.
In the “President’s Message” portion of the online program, Seibold described how these performances are the result of tons of work between music students, teachers, and volunteers behind the scenes, but that without vital community support the festival would not be possible.
“The Rosetown Music Festival would not be viable without the wonderful volunteers and sponsors who so generously offer their time and resources. Please take note of the many individuals and organizations whose financial support helps make this festival a reality.”
Seibold was also eager to mention that will the help of Speech Art’s Specialist, Brenda Ormsby, there has been a large increase in the spoken word classes. On the judging side of things, they are happy to welcome three “esteemed adjudicators” Jhena Dela Cruz, and Anna Marie Bekolay.
