Rosie O’Donnell had some choice words for President Donald Trump on Sunday
“If you grew up in New York, you knew he was an asshole and a liar from day one,” she told Variety outside the Tony Awards.
The actor and former TV host also shared some memories of Trump as a New Yorker.
“I remember when his planes were repossessed off the runways at LaGuardia. I remember when he was broke. I remember when he would call up places and pretend to be his own publicist,” she said, adding: “He is a conman. He is a narcissist. And he is a psychopath, if you ask me.”
Variety also asked her how she think the president will be greeted at Madison Square Garden on Monday, where he’s expected to show up for the NBA finals game between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs.
“With a lot of boos, and I’m happy to hear it,” she predicted.
Trump had fired off a post on Truth Social one day earlier accusing O’Donnell of being “obsessed” with him, and depicting her thinking of the president at all hours.
While O’Donnell has frequently criticized Trump, the president has also spent plenty of his own time obsessing over her, often attacking and insulting her on social media.
After Trump won the 2024 election, O’Donnell moved to Ireland ― which she said was a matter of self-preservation ― and applied for Irish citizenship. Trump in turn threatened to take her citizenship away, a power he does not have since she was born in the United States.
O’Donnell said on Instagram she will be back in the U.S. this summer, where she will be performing a one-woman show in New York.
