Princess Alexandra is to become a great grandmother after a
royal relation announced exciting baby news.
Alexandra’s granddaughter, Flora Vesterberg, has revealed she is
expecting her first child.
She made the announcement on Instagram, saying ”Delighted to
share that Timothy and I are expecting our first child. We’re truly
over the moon.”
Flora married Timothy Vesterberg in 2020. They celebrated their
marriage again in 2021 as their first wedding had come at the
height of the pandemic.
As she revealed the new addition to the family, Flora shared a
new photo which had been taken by her father.
The mum to be is the only daughter of James Ogilvy, son of
Princess Alexandra and the late Angus Ogilvy. James is married to
Julia – they wed in 1988 at St. Mary’s Church in Saffron Walden,
Essex.
Flora Ogilvy, 31, works in contemporary art, running a gallery.
Her husband is a financier.
No date has been given for the arrival of the new baby although
the photo accompanying the announcement showed a very happy Flora
with a noticeable bump.
The new baby will be 62nd in line to the throne and a direct
descendant of King George V. Princess Alexandra was a granddaughter
of the king who reigned from 1910 to 1936 although she never met
him as she arrived on Christmas Day 1936 and her grandfather had
died in January that year. Alexandra was born just days after the
abdication of King Edward VIII and was the first royal baby of the
reign of King George VI.
Princess Alexandra was a working royal for decades, representing
Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III at many events. She has
been much lower profile in recent years – she is now 89 years
old.
The princess had two children, James and Marina, and she also
has four grandchildren. James is father to Flora and Alexander, 29,
while Marina is mum to Zenouska, 35, and Christian, 32.
