Meghan Markle has been brutally torn apart during a discussion about her life post-royal life, with one expert referring to her as having a “malicious streak”. The 44-year-old officially joined the Royal Family in 2018 after marrying Prince Harry, with the couple making the decision to step back from royal duties in January 2020.
Discussing Meghan’s ventures since stepping down from the Firm, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has described the former actress as “lacking in talent” and labelled the Sussexes as a couple as being “mediocre”. Speaking to the Daily Express, Mr Fitzwilliams said: “Time could also, as their popularity waned, especially in the UK, with the public, highlight double standards, “faux-royal” tours were no substitute for the real thing. They also made enemies of the British press, who greeted their wedding with huge acclaim, a fact soon forgotten.”
He added: “Allegations of bullying, public relations mistakes such as Meghan’s ghastly twerking video, there was an obvious lack of talent alongside a clearly malicious streak.
“The couple lost their halo and it became clear that they had few celebrity friends, though Serena Williams was an exception and she wisely avoided Meghan’s cookery series. Harry has started to look like an extra who sometimes longs for home.
“The bond between them remains strong, but one of the legacies of Megxit is that the couple are actually pretty mediocre, save for projects such as Invictus which predate Meghan. Harry resented being a spare with William as heir. He’s a mere cameo when Meghan’s on screen.”
The Duchess of Sussex, who launched her As Ever brand last year, is said to be considering branching out internationally.
A source with inside knowledge of the business and close to As Ever recently said that the recent glitch – which saw the website display remaining stock levels – proves how successful the brand has been so far.
They said: “That large stock order was obviously part of the international expansion plans the Duchess spoke about for the brand.”
Tomorrow, January 8, marks six years since Meghan and Harry shared the shock annoucement that they were stepping down as working royals.
